Haryana Deputy Attorney General sacked for carrying Gurmeet Ram Rahim's bag

Chandigarh, Aug 26 (IBNS): After a video surfaced in the media, where he is seen assisting rape convict spiritual leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim in carrying his bag, Haryana Deputy Advocate General Gurdass Singh Salwara was removed from his post on Saturday, reports said.

In the video, the top lawyer, wearing his rob, could be seen rushing to help the Dera chief to carry his orange suitcase.

Speaking to CNN-News18, Haryana A-G Baldev Mahajan confirmed that the deputy A-G had been sacked, adding that he had recommended the termination on seeing the video.

Panchkula witnessed violence on Friday after a court in Panchkula convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim in a rape case.

Followers of the spiritual leader went on a rampage as they attacked journalists, police and damaged vehicles and property to disrupt life in the city.

More than 30 people were killed in the violence.
