Guwahati blast: Police recover suspected explosive, bomb-making items

Guwahati, May 16 (IBNS): Following the Guwahati blast, the city police on Thursday raided a house at Panjabari area here and recovered huge quantity of explosives, arms and ammunition.

Police also detained the owner of the house identified as Jahnabi Saikia.

According to the reports, based on intelligence input, the city police raided at the house no 10 at Namghar path near Panjabari area and recovered about 35 kg suspected explosives, one 9mm pistol with ammunition and other bomb-making items from the house.

The nabbed woman is known to be close with Pro-talk ULFA leader Pranmoy Rajguru.

A top police official said that Assam police have received call details of the woman, who called to some suspicious persons for several times following the blast.

Meanwhile, Guwahati city police do not want to disclose further information about the raid.

“We are progressing in our investigation. We will share the information later. Our investigation is now progressed following yesterday incident,” Devraj Upadhyay, Joint Police Commissioner, Guwahati said.

At least12 persons including two security personnel were injured in an explosion took place in front of Guwahati Central shopping mall, Zoo road.
