New Delhi, Nov 23 (IBNS): President of India Pranab Mukherjee in his message on the eve of the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur said that it is an occasion to remember the glory of his sacrifice.

The President said, "Guru Teg Bahadurji was an embodiment of humility who transcended all barriers of caste, creed, race, religion and gender. Let us on this sacred day re-dedicate ourselves to the philosophy of selfless service to all.

Let hatred and violence find no place in our thoughts and actions.

May the sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadurji inspire us to unite all humanity into one common brotherhood.”

Guru Teg Bahadur was the ninth of the 10 Gurus of the Sikh religion.

Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib in old Delhi's Chandni Chowk marks the spot where he was beheaded on the orders of Emperor Aurangzeb.
