Gulberg massacre case : Sentencing on June 17

Ahmedabad, June 13 (IBNS) The quantum of punishment to the 24 convicts in the 2002 Gulberg society massacre case will be announced on June 17, a special trial court said on Monday.

On June 10, final arguments on the quantum of sentence were concluded, with the prosecution reiterating its demand for "exemplary punishment to the convicts" citing the nature of the crime.The court fixed Monday as the next day of hearing.

The court had on June 2 found 24 people guilty, 11 of them of murder, in the case. Altogether 69  people, including former Congress parliamentarian Ehsan Jafri, were killed on February 28, 2002 in the post-Godhra communal violence in Gujarat.
