New Delhi: A 28-year-old health worker from Gujarat has been arrested for allegedly passing sensitive information about Indian defence establishments to a Pakistani agent, the state's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) said on Saturday.

Identified as Sahdev Singh Gohil, a resident of Kachchh, the accused had allegedly been in contact with a woman claiming to be “Aditi Bharadwaj” since 2023 via WhatsApp, said senior ATS officer K Siddharth.

Gohil allegedly sent her photos and videos of Indian Air Force (IAF) and Border Security Force (BSF) sites, including those recently constructed or still under development.

“We had information that he had been sharing content related to the BSF and the IAF with a Pakistani agent,” Siddharth told reporters.

Gohil was first called for questioning on May 1, during which investigators learned that he had used a SIM card — purchased on his Aadhaar credentials — to activate WhatsApp for “Aditi Bharadwaj” using a one-time password. All sensitive content was shared over that account.

Forensic analysis confirmed that the numbers to which the information was sent were operated from Pakistan.

Gohil was also found to have received ₹40,000 in cash from an unidentified individual, believed to be part of the network.

The arrest comes at a time of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.
