Gujarat Assembly polls scheduled for Dec 9 and 14

New Delhi, Oct 25 (IBNS): The 182-seat Gujarat Assembly election will be held in two phases, Dec 9 and Dec 14.

Counting of votes will be Dec 18 for both phases.

The model code of conduct in Gujarat comes into force and is applicable for all candidates, the Chief Election Commissioner Achal Kumar Joti made the announcement on Wednesday.

The CEC has said that the affidavits submitted by the candidates will be scrutinised minutely.

Rupees 28 lakhs is the expenditure ceiling for the candidates who will be contesting the Gujarat Assembly.

Both EVMs and VVPATS will be used for the polling.

He said that the number of polling stations for  has been increased by over 12 per cent.

There will be 102 all woman polling centres in the state, where both polling staff and security personnel will be women.
