Guwahati, May 15 (IBNS): At least six people were injured in a grenade blast outside a shopping mall in Assam's capital city Guwahati on Wednesday evening, media reports said.

All the injured have been admitted to a hospital. Two are critical.

The blast took place around 8pm on the Zoo Road area.

Following the blast, the area has been cordoned off.

Two men came on a motorcycle and threw a grenade in front of the shopping mall at the arterial RG Baruah Road just opposite the zoo, police commissioner Deepak Kumar was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Paresh Baruah-led terror outfit ULFA has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Senior police officers are now at the spot and are conducting an investigation.
