Girls outshine boys in Kashmir school final exams

Srinagar, May 19 (IBNS) Jammu and Kashmir Board School Education Kashmir Zone declared result of tenth class examinations on Tuesday with the girls outshining boys by securing the first three positions.

However, the overall pass percentage of boys (74.5) is higher than that of girls (68.8).

Tenth class annual results written by 50535 students were declared Tuesday with the first three positions shared by seven girls, board officials said.

Anika Shabir, student of Hajahad Public School Awantipora, has secured the first position with 494 marks, the second position is shared by four girls, each securing 491/500 marks. Third position is shared by two girls with 490 marks. As per the JK Bose, first 20 positions are shared by 182 students.

However boys with 74.5 pass percentage is leading the overall pass percentage followed by girls with 68.8 percent. Secretary Board told IBNS.

The Jammu and Kashmir state board of education is considered the main board of school education in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The board of education is an autonomous body under the administration of the state government of Jammu and Kashmir. Around 10,609 schools are affiliated to the board and it employs approximately 22,300 teachers.
