French Minister announces the opening of Alliance franchise branches in Udaipur, Bhubaneswar

France's Minister of State for Development and International Partnership Chrysoula Zacharopoulou on Wednesday announced two new Alliance francaise branches would be opened in India soon.

The two centres will be opened in the country to promote French language and culture in India.

The centres will be opened in Udaipur and Bhubaneswar.

"French is already the most learned foreign language in India, with 600 000 learners," read a statement issued by the French Embassy in India.

Minister Zacharopoulou visited the Alliance française de Delhi, one of the 15 Alliances françaises across the country, which together represent France’s most active network in the world in terms of French teaching hours.

The French Minister interacted with students of the Alliance, sharing her personal story of learning French at an Alliance française, and presenting the goals of the Francophonie Summit that France will host for the first time next year.

The Minister posted on X: "Here too, in #India, the #Francophonie is a land of opportunities. With 15 French Alliances, many possibilities are available to our partners.#French is the choice of 600,000 learners! This #francophilia nourishes the strategic partnership."
