Four accused in Parliament security breach sent to 7 days police custody

Sagar Sharma and D Manoranjan, who were caught inside the Lok Sabha, and Neelam Devi and Amol Shinde -- arrested outside Parliament -- have to be questioned in detail, the Delhi Police said.

Five people were arrested on Wednesday itself for the security breach in the afternoon in which two men got into the Lok Sabha and let off thick yellow smoke from canisters they smuggled in. 

A total of six people were involved in the planning and execution of the major security breach in Parliament on Wednesday.

Sagar Sharma and D Manoranjan deployed yellow smoke canisters inside the Lok Sabha, and two others - Neelam Devi and Amol Shinde - burst red and yellow canisters outside the Parliament.

Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan, who were seated in the Lok Sabha's visitors' gallery before launching this shocking disruption, were given entrance passes requested by BJP MP Pratap Sinha's office.

All four have been charged under tough anti-terror law UAPA and various sections of the Indian Penal Code. 

Their accomplice Vishal Sharma and his wife, in whose house in Gurugram they stayed before reaching Parliament, have been detained. Lalit Jha, a key conspirator and the alleged mastermind, is on the run.

According to the police, Jha, who was unable to get a visitor's pass, had stayed outside and filmed the 'protest' by Neelam and Amol Shinde.

This he uploaded online before showing a clean pair of heels. Investigators said he was last seen in Rajasthan's Neemrana.

Appearing in the court on Thursday, the police contended that the whole operation resembled a terror attack and questioned the motive. "Was the purpose of the incident only to express one's point or to carry out some major incident? It has to be investigated whether any terrorist organisation is involved in this entire issue," they told the court.

The court was also told that the accused had probably smuggled in the smoke canisters in their shoes. The men had purchased two pairs of shoes from Lucknow and brought them here, the police said.
