Fortunate to contest Lok Sabha election from Gandhinagar: Amit Shah

| @indiablooms | Mar 30, 2019, at 12:00 pm

Gandhinagar, Mar 30 (IBNS): Addressing a gathering prior to filing nomination to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Saturday said he is lucky to get an opportunity to become an MP from Gujarat's Gandhinagar, which was held by stalwarts like late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani.

"Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani remained the MPs of Gandhinagar. I am fortunate that BJP has given me an opportunity to contest and become an MP from Gandhinagar," Shah said.

He added, "I am going to file nomination from Gandhinagar constituency today. I am remembering the days of 1982 when I was the president of a small booth."

Former Prime Minister late Vajpayee and senior BJP member Advani remained MPs from Gandhinagar for a long time. Gandhinagar is considered to be a BJP bastion.

Advani, who is the sitting MP of Gandhinagar, has been denied ticket by his party to contest the upcoming General Election which will decide whether Narendra Modi will become the Prime Minister for the second straight term or not.

Along with Advani, veteran Murli Manohar Joshi has also been asked by the BJP not to contest the forthcoming polls.

In his address, Shah also urged people to make BJP win in all 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat.

The BJP chief is presently a Rajya Sabha MP from his home state Gujarat.
