Kolkata/IBNS: Former Trinamool Congress MLA from Diamond Harbour Dipak Haldar on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a day after deserting the ruling outfit.

Haldar joined the BJP at a rally in Baruipur in presence of party leaders Mukul Roy, Suvendu Adhikari, Rajib Banerjee and Sayantan Basu.

According to reports, the two-time MLA sent his sent resignation letter to the leadership via speed post a day ago.

Earlier on Saturday, five Trinamool Congress turncoats including former West Bengal Forest Minister Rajib Banerjee and actor Rudranil Ghosh joined the BJP in presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.

Apart from Banerjee, suspended rebel Trinamool MLA, Baishali Dalmia, sitting lawmaker Prabir Ghoshal, ex-party MLA Partha Sarathi Chatterjee, former Howrah Mayor Rathin Chakraborty have also joined the saffron camp.

Over the last few months, at least 15 Trinamool leaders from various levels have joined the saffron camp with few weeks left for the state polls.

Amit Shah, a tall leader of the BJP, on Sunday at a rally claimed West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee will be left all alone by the time election comes.
