New Delhi/IBNS: Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was on Wednesday evening hospitalised after he complained of fever and weakness.

He has been admitted to Delhi's All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Earlier this year, the 88-year-old Congress veteran had been admitted to hospital after he tested positive for Covid-19.

Pranav Jha, AICC secretary in-charge of communications, said Singh is "undergoing routine treatment" and his condition is stable.

He also dismissed "unsubstantiated rumours" regarding his health.

"There are some unsubstantiated rumours with regards to former PM, Dr Manmohan Singh ji’s health. His condition is stable. He is undergoing routine treatment. We will share any updates as needed. We thank our friends in media for their concern," his tweet read.

Soon after news of the former PM's hospitalisation surfaced, prominent Congress leaders took to Twitter to wish him quick recovery.

"Praying for quick recovery and good health of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji who has been admitted to AIIMS," Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi posted.

Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah also wished Dr Singh a quick recovery.
