Former Lok Sabha Speaker Rabi Ray passes away

New Delhi/Cuttack, Mar 6 (IBNS): Former Lok Sabha Speaker Rabi Ray passed away on Monday.

"Saddened at the passing of fmr Speaker of Lok Sabha Rabi Ray. India has lost a great Parliamentarian. My condolences to his family/friends," Banerjee tweeted.

Ray passed away at a hospital in Cuttack on Monday.He was 91.

According to reports, he passed away after prolonged illness.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee mourned his death.

PMO India tweeted: "Saddened by demise of former LS Speaker Shri Rabi Ray. He made a mark as a committed leader & respected Parliamentarian. My condolences: PM."

Banerjee also condoled the death of the ex-Lok Sabha Speaker as she tweeted: "Saddened at the passing of fmr Speaker of Lok Sabha Rabi Ray. India has lost a great Parliamentarian. My condolences to his family/friends."
