Former Jammu and Kashmir Guv Satyapal Malik's 30 premises raided in corruption case

Srinagar/IBNS: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday raided 30 premises linked to former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik in connection with an alleged corruption in the Kiru Hydropower Project.

The CBI mobilised 100 of its officers in the morning at 30 locations in multiple cities.

In 2022, the probe agency had filed a case against five people including Malik for an alleged corruption in awarding contracts worth Rs. 2,200-crore.

Malik had claimed he was offered Rs. 300-crore to clear the files including one linked to the project.

While being raided, the former Governor posted on X, "Instead of investigating against people whom I had complained about, the CBI is raiding my residence. They will get nothing more than 4-5 kurtas and pyjamas.

"The dictator is trying to scare me by misusing government agencies. I am a farmer's son. I will neither be afraid nor bow down."

In an explosive interview with Karan Thapar earlier, Malik made startling claims that the Union Home Minister refused to give CRPF people aircraft which they had asked for and instead they were made to travel on road in Pulwama, where the terror attack took place leaving 40 soldiers martyred.

Malik had alleged, "...I told it to the Prime Minister in the evening that this has happened due to our fault. Had we given the aircraft, this wouldn’t have happened. To which he told me that I should keep quiet now."

Malik remained the Governor of the erstwhile state from August 2018 to October 2019.
