Focus would be on New India, says Rao Inderjit after taking charge of Planning Ministry

New Delhi, Jun 3 (UNI): Union Minister of State (Independent charge) for Planning Rao Inderjit Singh on Monday said his focus would be on work for New India by 2022.

The Minister said inclusive growth and all round development would be his priority areas.

He said this after taking charge of the Planning Ministry at NITI Aayog here. He also held a brief meeting with senior officials of NITI Aayog to review the progress of work done.

Singh represents Gurugram constituency of Haryana in 17th Lok Sabha 2019. He has also served as MoS (I/C) Planning, MoS Urban Development, MoS Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation from July 5, 2016 – September 3, 2017. He was MoS (I/C) Planning, MoS Defence from November 3, 2014 -- July 5, 2016. He has also worked in the capacity of MoS (I/C) Planning; Statistics and Programme Implementation and MoS Defence from May 27, 2014 – November 9, 2014.

He is a member of National Executive BJP and President of the Paralympic Committee of India.

Besides, General (Retd) V K Singh also assumed charge as Minister of State for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

On the occasion, he was greeted by the senior officials with a bouquet.

Earlier in the previous government, Gen Singh was the junior minister in the Ministry of External Affairs. He has reached the Lok Sabha for the second time from the Ghaziabad parliamentary constituency.
