Flight operations closed for 2 hours at Goa Airport after MiG-29K's external fuel tank lands on runway

Panaji, Jun 8 (UNI/IBNS) All flight operations at International Airport at Dabolim in South Goa were suspended for nearly two hours after a detachable fuel tank attached to a Mig-29K fighter crash-landed on runway on Saturday.

In a tweet, Navy said,'GoaAirport closed temporarily for a few hours view incident of fire caused by a drop tank of MiG 29K which got detached whilst taking off. All efforts in hand to resume flights ASAP. MiG 29K fighter ac is safe.'

AAI Goa in its tweet said, "Due to jettisoned fuel tank on the runway during MIG sortie the operations are closed for two hours at Goa airport. Pl bear with us."

However, the flight operations resumed at around 1500 hrs in the afternoon. 'Flight operations resumed at @aaigoaairport,' Navy said in another tweet.

The International Airport is operated from Indian naval base INS Hansa.
