Five Rohingya Muslims arrested in Guwahati

Guwahati, May 14 (IBNS): Five Rohingya Muslims including a woman were arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) at Guwahati railway station on Tuesday.

According to the reports, the RPF and GRP sleuths had arrested the Rohingyas from platform no 1 in the railway station while they were trying to go to Delhi.

A top official of GRP said that, the security personnel deployed at Guwahati railway station had apprehended two boys and a girl by suspecting and interrogated them.

“They hadn't able show any identity proof, documents and later arrested them along with two others,” the GRP official said.

The arrested Rohingyas were identified as Makakmyayum Sahenas, MD Zubar, Md Kamal Hussain, Nurul Hakim and Md Kalimula and they are hailing from Myanmar.

Security personnel had recovered Myanmar made preserved fruit packets, sweets, white coffee and other items in possession from them

It is to be mentioned that, the arrested five Rohingyas were earlier arrested by Manipur police in 2018.

During interrogation, they revealed that, they were trying to obtain the certificate of Reguee Status from UNHCR, New Delhi.

On Apr 24, police have arrested eight Rohingya women in Mizoram.

The police had arrested the Rohingya women from an Aizawl bound passenger bus going from southern Assam city Silchar at Vairenti police check post.

Police had also arrested five Rohingya girls along with a broker at Churaibari area along Assam-Tripura border last month, while they were trying to enter into Assam without valid documents.

Since January this year, security forces have arrested 55 Rohingyas in the North Eastern region.

On Jan 21 this year, 30 Rohingyas including 12 minors were arrested by police from a Guwahati-bound passenger bus in Assam’s Karimganj district along with Assam-Tripura border.

On Feb 2 last, seven Assam bound Rohingya children were arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) from a railway station in Tripura.
