Jamshedpur, Jun 14 (IBNS): Five policemen were killed in an ambush by Maoists near Jamshedpur in Jharkhand on Friday.

The attack took place on Friday evening while the policemen were patrolling a local market in Saraikela district, about 40 kilometres from Jamshedpur.

According to reports, two Maoists, who were involved in the attack, also looted the weapons of the policemen.

The attack was launched on two assistant sub-inspectors and three constables, who were shot dead by the Maoists.

Police officials, including the Superintendent of Police, have reached the spot.
