Fire onboard aircraft carrier INS Viraat,1 killed

New Delhi, Mar 6 (IBNS): At least one person was killed in a fire onboard aircraft carrier INS Viraat on Sunday, media reports said.

Three others were injured in the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Chief Engineering Mechanic Ashu Singh, reports said.

The incident reportedly occurred when INS Viraat was on a routine deployment to Goa.

Fire broke out in a boiler room of the   aircraft carrier, reports said.

"One of the sailors, Chief Engineering Mechanic Ashu Singh, was shifted to the naval hospital in Goa where he suffered a cardiac arrest and died," NDTV reported.

The fire was soon brought under control.
