Financial fraud case: Nussrat Jahan denies wrongdoing a day after ED receives complaint against her

Bengali film actress and Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan on Wednesday denied allegations of fraud levelled against her which is related to a 'shady' financial entity.

Addressing a press conference in Kolkata's Press Club, Jahan, who is an MP of the ruling party from Basirhat, said: "This is not a political issue."

"If I had duped money of citizens then today I would not have stood in front of you to address this press conference," she said.

She made the remarks a day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) received a complaint against her in connection with an alleged fraud related to a 'shady' financial entity.

She said she resigned from the Seven Sense Infrastructure company after replaying the loan amount.

"I have no stake in the company," she said.

"The company had given me a loan but I have returned it back with interest. My bank statement can even prove this," she said.

"I have evidence of every transaction with the company," she said.

The complaint lodged against Jahan stated that the financial entity received around Rs 6,00,000 from each of the duped investors and promised them residential flats at reasonable rates within the span of four years, said reports.

According to reports, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has filed a complaint against Jahan at ED's Salt Lake office.

“This is a clear case of financial scam. A case was filed earlier in the court in the matter. The court even asked the Trinamool Congress MP to be present before it, which she defied. So we are compelled to approach the ED in the matter," the BJP leader was quoted as saying by TOI.
