New Delhi/IBNS: The European Investment Bank (EIB) has made an emergency donation of 250,000 euros to ensure country's better access to life saving equipment, medicines and oxygen, said media reports.

The announcement of the donation from bank's own funds was made by EIB president Werner Hoyer.

The funding will be given to UNICEF Luxembourg, Malteser International and Red Cross International to procure life saving equipment like oxygen cylinders and oxygen plants needed across India.

The member countries of the European Union have already provided supplies and equipment worth hundred million euros as emergency support.

The donation will also go towards more ambulances, 24 x 7 helplines and blood supply. The money will also be used in communication and awareness campaigns to clear doubt tennis information on covid-19 immunization.

“The EIB stands by India during these challenging times and our donation is a sign of solidarity and support. The EIB, as the EU Bank, is ready to strengthen cooperation with Indian partners to tackle the pandemic and recover as quickly as possible,” Hoyer said, reported Hindustan Times.
