Encounter between police, Maoists in Kharasawan, 3 jawans hurt

Saraikela-Kharsawan, May 20 (UNI) An encounter took place between the security forces and the ultras belonging to the CPI (Maoists) under Kharsawan Police Station area of this district in which three jawans were injured.

Police said, the Maoists attacked a bus which was taking the security forces to Suru Irrigation Dam project located at Hundhada when initially the ultras first tried to detonate explosives to damage the bus but later started firing upon in which two jawans of SAP and one jawan of the district police was injured.

As the security forces retaliated, the Maoists fled into the deeper reaches of the forest. The injured jawans have been admitted at MGM Jamshedpur for treatment. Search and combing operations were on in the area.

The injured jawans of SAP have been identified as Harram Singh of Ara and Makhan Singh of Jehanabad district of Bihar.

According to the injured jawans, earlier the Maoists had beaten up the workers and the contractors executing the irrigation project after which to ensure that the work goes on smoothly the security personnel were deployed.

The jawans use to reach at the site in the morning by bus and later in the evening use to return back. As part of their daily routine today also they were on their way to the project site when they came under the attack of the Maoists.
