Election Commission names new police commissioners for Kolkata, Bidhannagar

Kolkata, Apr 5 (IBNS): The Election Commission of India appointed new police commissioners for Kolkata and Bidhannagar on Friday.

In a letter to the West Bengal government's chief secretary, secretary to the Election Commission of India Rakesh Kumar said the poll body had reviewed the state's preparedness for the Lok Sabha polls and decided to make the new appointments.

Pollution Control Board ADG Rajesh Kumar has been named the new Kolkata police commissioner.

Natarajan Ramesh Babu, ADJ and IGP, Operations, has been named the Bidhannagar police commissioner.

Avannu Ravindranath and Srihari Pandey have been named the police superintendents of Birbhum and Diamond Harbour respectively.
