Election Commission announces state poll dates

New Delhi, Jan 4 (IBNS) The Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday announced the poll dates for the five states of Goa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh (UP), Uttarakhand and Manipur with the balloting beginning from Feb 4. UP is going for a seven-phase polls.

The  polling dates as announced by Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi: 

Goa: Feb 4, 2017 (40 seats) 

Punjab: Feb 4, 2017 (117 seats)

Uttarakhand: Feb 15 , 2017 (70 seats)

Manipur (two phases):  March 4 and  March 8, 2017  (38 and 22 seats respectively) 

Uttar Pradesh: (403 seats, seven phase polls): Feb 11, Feb 15, Feb 19, Feb 23,  Feb 27,  March 4 and March  8, 2017

Date of Counting: March 11, 2017.
