Eight people killed in three separate road mishaps in Assam

Guwahati, Feb 4 (IBNS) : At least eight people were killed in three separate  road mishaps in Assam in the past 24 hours.

In one of the incidents, four people were killed and one woman injured in a car accident in Assam’s Morigaon district on Sunday night.

The accident took place on the National Highway – 37 at Makaria area under Neli police station near Jagiraod where a speedy Maruti Swift car  lost control and hit a roadside culvert.

According to the police, the vehicle was going to Nagaon from Guwahati. The four deceased include the driver. One woman was injured. She has been  sent to Guwahati for treatment.

The deceased were identified as Bini Kumar, Sharath, Gitanjali Devi and Gobi.

“The Maruti Swift car  lost control and hit a roadside culvert in the  Makaria area. Four people were killed while ne woman was injured in the accident,” a police officer said.

In another incident,   two bikers were killed when a speeding  dumper hit them at Doboka area in Assam’s Hojai district.

In the third incident, two people died at Rangia area in Kamrup district in a head- on collision between two vehicles.
