Amaravati, Mar 27 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) transferred three IPS officers in Andhra Pradesh and the transfers would come into effect immediately.

The ECI issued orders in this regard on Tuesday night. The IPS officers transferred are, Director General (Intelligence) A B Venkateswara Rao, Kadapa district Superintendent of police Rahul Dev Sharma and Srikakulam district superintendent of police Addala Venkata Ratnam.

The officers were asked to report in the Andhra Pradesh police Headquarters.
The ECI directed the Andhra Pradesh government not to give them any kind of responsibilities till the elections are concluded. The ECI asked Chief Secretary of AP, Anil Chandra Puneta to send a panel of three names of suitable officers latest by 1 PM, March 27, 2019 to appoint new officers.

It may be mentioned here that YSRCP National General secretary and MP Vijay Sai Reddy complained to the ECI against the three IPS officers stating that they were acting in favour of the ruling Telugu Desam party.

Meanwhile, taking the ECI’s decision of transferring the IPS officers in AP as serious note, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to the ECI on Wednesday stating that he was shocked to see the communication received from the ECI, addressed to the Chief Secretary of AP to transfer three IPS officers.

“This order is contradicting its own guidelines totally biased and violates the principles of natural justice.” The Chief Minister lamented.

Naidu said, “I strongly protest the manner I which the above transfers have been ordered. The transfers of the above officers just based on complaint, given by the YSRCP, in less than 24 hours of the complaint without any preliminary inquiry. The order does not mention the reasons for such a transfer.”

The ECI's decision of transferring three senior IPS officers created flutters in the political circles in AP and caused wordily duel between the ruling TDP and opposition YSRCP.
