Drugs worth Rs 1.80 crore recovered in Manipur’s Moreh

Guwahati, Apr 3 (IBNS): The Manipur police and Assam Rifles have recovered huge quantity of brown sugar worth Rs 1.80 crore in Manipur’s Moreh area.             

Based on specific input from a reliable source, a team of Manipur police and 12 Assam Rifles of Khudengthabi post intercepted a silver coloured Maruti Alto 800 bearing registration no MN-02G-3132 travelling from Moreh to Imphal near  Khudengthabi check post on Tuesday evening. 

On carrying out a thorough check of the vehicle, 70 packets of light brown coloured powder suspected to be brown sugar with approx weight 936 grams worth Rs 1.80 crore was found hidden under the seat of the driver.

Security personnel had arrested the driver identified as Haopu Haokip, resident of Moreh in Tengnoupal district.

The arrested person and along with the seized items were handed over to Moreh police station for taking further necessary legal action.
