Delhi's oxygen demand has dipped, Centre can give surplus to other states: Manish Sisodia
Delhi/IBNS: Delhi's oxygen crisis is finally over as Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday said that the demand for the life-saving gas has dipped and the Centre can supply to other states where shortage prevails.
"The oxygen demand has come down and hospital beds are getting free. At that time (15 days ago), we needed 700 metric tonnes of oxygen, according to the beds... Delhi's oxygen demand has come down to 582 metric tonnes per day.
"We have written a letter to the central government and have said our work will be done with 582 metric tonnes of oxygen per day and they can give surplus oxygen from Delhi's quota to other states," Mr Sisodia said, reported NDTV.
Sisodia thanked the Centre and Delhi High Court for helping people at the most distressing period due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in a second wave of infection.
The infection rate in the national capital has also plummeted by more than 21 per cent and the positivity rate has also gone down by 14 per cent. Delhi logged 10,400 cases in the last 24 hours.
Delhi grappled with severe oxygen shortage, critical medicines and hospital beds as more and more patients developed difficulty in breathing within a few days of contracting the infection.
