Delhi murder: What is TV show Dexter that 'inspired' accused Aaftab Poonawala all about?
Popular American crime drama Dexter has suddenly popped up in the horrific Delhi murder case where 28-year-old Aaftab Ameen Poonawala allegedly killed his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and chopped her body into 35 pieces.
In an interrogation by the police, Aaftab has reportedly said he was inspired by the TV show Dexter.
Aftab, who had met his partner Shraddha Walkar in an online dating app, moved together to a place in Delhi's Mehrauli in May this year.
Aftab reportedly killed her after an argument broke out between the two on May 18.
Being inspired by Dexter, the accused then bought a saw and a 300-litre refrigerator to store the 35 pieces for 18 days.
But what is Dexter all about?
Dexter, which has 96 episodes spanning across eight seasons, is a psychological thriller which ran from 2006 to 2013.
The story revolves around the protagonist Dexter Morgan, a forensic technician who leads a double life.
Dexter on one hand is specialised in bloodstain pattern analysis for a police department, he parallelly leads a life of being a serial killer.
As a serial killer, Dexter hunts down murderers who have not been adequately penalised by the justice system.
