Delhi judge, 30, found dead at home; police suspect suicide amid family dispute claims
A 30-year-old judicial officer was found dead at his residence in South Delhi on Saturday, with police suspecting suicide after his body was discovered inside the bathroom of his Green Park home.
The deceased, Aman Kumar Sharma, was serving as Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) for North-East Delhi at Karkardooma Court.
Body found inside locked bathroom
According to reports, a PCR call was received at Delhi Police’s Safdarjung Enclave Police Station around 1.45 pm.
The call was reportedly made by his brother-in-law, who informed police that Sharma had died by suicide.
Police teams rushed to the house and found Sharma inside the bathroom. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Initial findings indicate suspected death by hanging. Officials said no signs of foul play have emerged so far, though all angles are being examined.
Family alleges domestic distress
According to relatives citing his father, Sharma had called around 10 pm the previous night, saying he was deeply troubled and finding it difficult to continue living.
His father, who was in Alwar, reportedly left immediately for Delhi and reached the residence around midnight.
Family members have alleged that Sharma had been facing issues with his wife for the past two months.
They claimed she is also a judicial officer, while her sister is an IAS officer posted in Jammu.
They further alleged he had complained of mental harassment at home.
Arguments heard before incident
Relatives claimed there had been arguments inside the house, with Sharma in one room and his wife in another.
Later, when he could not be located, family members called his phone and heard it ringing from inside the locked bathroom.
The door was then opened after access was made through a window, and Sharma was found hanging, allegedly using a piece of cloth.
Career background
Sharma joined the Delhi Judicial Service on June 19, 2021, after completing his law degree from Symbiosis Law School in 2018.
Since October 2025, he had been posted full-time as Secretary of the DLSA at Karkardooma Court.
Investigation ongoing
The body has been sent for postmortem examination. Police are questioning family members and close associates to reconstruct the events leading to the death.
