New Delhi/IBNS: The Delhi government on Tuesday announced the imposition of weekend curfew in the national capital to stem the further spread of COVID-19.

Delhi will be under lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays, announced Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

In addition, Sisodia announced government offices barring the essential services will be shifted to 'work from home' mode while private offices can operate with 50 percent workforce.

Buses and metros have been allowed to operate with full capacity but passengers will have to wear masks mandatorily.

In the morning, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he went into self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

A total of 1,892 cases of COVID-19 variant 'Omicron' were reported in the country with 382 emerging from Delhi.
