Delhi health dept directs all ICMR-approved labs to not send reports without patient information
New Delhi/IBNS: The Delhi health department has asked all the ICMR approved labs to not to send any report without patient details after repeated warnings from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare over poor collection of data from those who are coming to these labs to get tested for Covid-19, said a media report.
Failure to provide adequate data with the reports will result in derecognisatin of the labs, said an Indian express report.
According to a senior official from the health department, with no information available, the Delhi health department is unable to trace the patients and their contacts on time and put them under surveillance, said the report.
This issue has been highlighted by the ministry officials several times in meetings, after which, labs have been directed to collect all the necessary information from the patients who visit for testing, the official added.
The data updation of the cases in Delhi has been marked ‘very poor’ by the Union health ministry as "in about 98.96 per cent cases, the data field regarding phone numbers and addresses, sometimes even the name, are left blank", said the report.
The department issued guidelines to effectively trace and monitor all suspected COVID-19 cases, including time limit for processing of samples and the maximum number of samples a lab can collect for testing.
“The samples collected in 24 hours must be processed not later than 48 hours. All collection centers should fill in complete details on the mobile application else the samples will not be accepted. Similarly, all labs have to download the app and ensure details of the patients are duly filled,” Indian Express quoted a senior official of health department.
The Delhi government has made mandatory from Friday for all labs and collection centres to download the dedicated RT-PCR mobile-based application, launched by the Centre, to record data at the point of collection.
The Delhi government has also said no labs should collect samples more than 10 per cent of their capacity, the report added.
