Delhi govt to fight Covid-19 aggressively: Manish Sisodia

Addressing a digital press conference here, he said the Delhi government has increased the beds in the last two weeks expansively, the number of covid-19 beds in Delhi increased from 6071 to 19101.

Mr Sisodia said, 'The Delhi government is working on a war-footing to increase the number of beds in Delhi's hospitals. In the last 2 weeks the number of Covid designated beds have been increased by 3 times. The number of Covid-19 beds in Delhi on April 3 was 6,071 which is 19,101 today.'

At present, there are 320 beds in Burari Hospital, which will be increased to 800. The capacity of beds at Ambedkar Nagar Hospital will be increased from 200 to 600. The beds at Deen Dayal Upadyay Hospital will be increased from 250 to 750. 250-250 new beds will be added at Acharya Shree Bhikshu (150 to 400) and DRDO's covid-19 Center, he said.

'The number of beds in the Satyawadi Raja Harishchandra Hospital of Narela will be increased from 200 to 400. Also, a Delhi government school will be connected to the LNJP hospital which will include 125 beds and a center of 500 beds will be set up in the Commonwealth Games Village. All these beds will be ready in the next 4-5 days,' he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said about 2,500 beds are still vacant in Delhi.

He appealed to the people not to panic and to follow all the rules of lockdown.

The Deputy Chief Minister said, 'Due to covid-19, people should not rush towards the hospital in fear but should adopt home isolation as an effective model. Home isolation is the most effective way to fight covid-19. During home isolation, doctors regularly keep in touch with people over the phone. If you have high fever or severe symptoms, then only go to hospitals.'

Appealing to the people, the Deputy Chief Minister said before going to the hospital, the people must check the status of beds in hospitals on the 'Delhi Corona App' and in which hospitals are the beds vacant, as it will save their time.

He said that if a hospital is showing false information on the app or refusing people despite having beds then action will be taken against that hospital.

Appreciating the doctors and medical staff, the Deputy Chief Minister said, "Our doctors and the rest of the medical staff are working day and night to save the lives of patients and are working relentlessly. Therefore, it is our duty to support them.
