Delhi/IBNS: The Delhi government on Saturday imposed strict restrictions to arrest the huge jump in new Coronavirus cases, limiting attendance in wedding and funerals, restricting public gatherings, reducing entry of people to half in restaurants, and allowing public transport to run with reduced occupancy.

The new restrictions will be in place till April 30 together with the night curfew from 10 am to 5 pm, which was clamped earlier, said an NDTV report.

The attendance in weddings and funerals have been reduced to 50 and 20, respectively. Restaurants, bars and movie halls will operate at 50 per cent of seating capacity. Buses and metro will also run at half occupancy.

All swimming pools will remain closed except those where the athletes practice for national and international events.

Government offices will also work at 50 per cent capacity except for high-level grade 1 officers, stated the report.

No restrictions have been imposed on police, health department, home guard, fire service and other emergency services as well as district administration and they will continue to operate with full capacity.

The government advised private companies to encourage work from home and call employees to their offices at different timings to avoid crowding.

All people coming from Maharashtra, the worst Covid-hit state, by plane will have to produce a negative RT-PCR test report not older than 72 hours. People ariving without test report will be quarantined fo 14 days.

However, people coming to Delhi for government work will be exempted.
