New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Friday demolished a 10-acre farmhouse valued at nearly Rs 400 crore, owned earlier by the late liquor tycoon Ponty Chadha, also known as Gurdeep Singh, media reports said.

Situated in the Chhatarpur area of South Delhi, the property was deemed to have been constructed illegally on government-owned land.

According to the DDA, around 5 acres of the encroached land were razed on Friday, with the demolition efforts continuing into Saturday, reported India Today.

Demolitions were conducted in North East Delhi, involving the dismantling of numerous establishments including showrooms, banquet halls, a hotel, and a warehouse.

These structures together occupied approximately 4 acres of government-owned land.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) also demolished the residence of Wakeel Hassan, a rat-hole miner involved in the successful rescue of 41 workers trapped in Uttarkashi's Silkyara tunnel in November 2023. Hassan's house was situated in the Khazoori Khas area of North East Delhi, according to the report.
