Tiruppur/Chennai, Mar 14 (IBNS) A dalit man was reportedly hacked to death for marrying a higher caste girl in Tamil Nadu's Tipuppur district on Sunday, according to reports.

The incident, which occurred in broad daylight, was recorded in a surveillance camera installed in the locality.

The man, identified as V Shankar, 22, married S. Kausalya, 19, amidst resistance from her relatives.

The suspected honour killing is surmised to be their deed as three men with lethal  weapons were seen fleeing the crime scene on a motorcycle.

The boy died on the spot, while the girl received grave injuries and was admitted in a government hospital.
