Hyderabad, Aug 9 (UNI) The Politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday condemned the detention of party General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and also CPI General Secretary D Raja at the Srinagar Airport.

This shows the authoritarian face of the BJP-led NDA government, the party said in a statement.

Yechury and Mr Raja had gone to Srinagar to visit Md Tarigami, MLA, the ailing leader of the CPI(M) and to meet the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Politburo called upon the people to protest this anti-democratic act of the Central government.
