Cow's death more important than cop killing: Naseeruddin Shah

| @indiablooms | Dec 21, 2018, at 12:37 am

Mumbai, Dec 20 (IBNS): Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has expressed concern over the ongoing mob violence in the country and said death of a cow is being given more importance than the killing of a policeman.

The comments were made in reference to the killing of the policeman in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr two weeks ago.

"There is complete impunity for those who take law into their own hands. In many areas we are witnessing that the death of a cow is more significance than that of a police officer," Shah said in an interview with Karwan-e-Mohabbat India on Monday.

A mob outrage over reports of cow slaughter claimed the life of police officer Subodh Kumar Singh and a villager in Bulandshahr earlier this month.

The ruling BJP has called Shah's remarks as PR stunt by the actor.

BJP MP Rakesh Sinha tweeted to say that "Nasiruddin Shah should first ask Rohingyas to leave Hindustan as according to him India  is  unsafe for him and his family! An artist should not be part of sinister design of anti cil society propaganda . His statement shows his low thinking.

Meanwhile, Shah is now no stranger to controversies. He recently attacked Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli calling him the worst behaved cricketer in the world. Shah got trolled immediately for his unsolicited attack on the Indian cricketer.

Nasiruddin Shah was earlier also criticised for signing a mercy petition to commute the death sentence of '93 Mumbai blast death row convict Yakub Memon.
