Court makes Delhi Police see video clips showing hate speeches by BJP leaders
New Delhi/IBNS:The Delhi High Court on Wednesday pulled up the Delhi Police for not acting despite the videos showing hate speeches were circulating on various platforms, said media reports.
A bench of justices S Muralidhar and Talwant Singh said this while hearing a plea seeking lodging of FIRs and arrests against those involved in the violence in northeast Delhi.
The court ordered the court staff to play the four videos, showing BJP leaders making provocative speeches, in the presence of Delhi Police Deputy Commissioner of Police, several lawyers, and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta.
The video clips played in the court room were of BJP leaders--Anurag Thakur, Kapil Mishra, Parvesh Verma and Abhay Verma--in which they were seen making provocative hate speeches, reported India Today.
"I'm amazed at the stand of the Delhi police. I'm sure in your Commissioner's office you would have several TVs," said one of the judges,the report quoted.
"You all will watch the clip here," the court said.
The Delhi High Court directed Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to advise the police commissioner to file FIRs against alleged provocative speeches by the BJP leaders, after which violence erupted in northeast Delhi, the report said.
