New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday conducted an aerial survey of areas hit by cyclone Biparjoy in Gujarat's Kutch.

After today’s review meeting, Shah said, “I can say that with the help of local people and others, we could face this storm with minimum loss. We have managed to do it."

Addressing a press conference in Gujarat, Shah said a review meeting was held to assess Biparjoy hit areas on the third day it came to know that not even a single person has died in this storm.

Only 47 people were injured in this disaster and none of them were seriously injured.

“The Central government and state government, all agencies, MPs, MLA, all political parties and NGOs have presented a classic example of how they can use timely information to save lives and property,” he said.

“Electricity was switched off in 3400 villages, out of which electricity has been restored in 1600 villages, and by the evening of June 20, the power supply will be resumed in all the villages,” said the Minister.

“Total 19 teams of NDRF, 13 teams of SDRF and two reserve battalions saved the lives of people. Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, BSF, State Police and State Reserve Police worked together with NDRF and SDRF,” said Shah.
