Congress protests land acquisition ordinance at Jantar Mantar

| | Feb 25, 2015, at 07:01 pm
New Delhi, Feb 25 (IBNS): While Vice-president Rahul Gandhi is missing after he went on leave to an undisclosed destination for introspection on poll defeats, his party Congress joined the bandwagon of protest against the Modi government in the land acquisition bill amendment ordinance calling it anti-farmer.

While an Anna Hazare agitation just ended at Jantar Mantar, Congress began one at the same venue from 12 noon on Wednesday.

Congress senior leaders are attending the agitation which it called a stir against Land Grab Ordinance.

Congress also called it Zameen Wapsi Andolan (Protest to get back land) and in Parliament it also attacked the BJP government over the issue.

Anna Hazare earlier on Monday threatened to launch a law violation movement against the Land Ordinance, saying there was no difference between the Narendra Modi government and the previous one, led by the Congress.

"The government is now taking decisions on the basis of its own whims. What is the difference between the Congress government and you (NDA) then? Today, you are doing the same things they did," he said while addressing a gathering at Jantar Mantar.

Hazare led thousands  of farmers in the protest against the bill through Ordinance route.

Hazare also threatened to start a 'jail bharo andolan' if the government did not address concerns over the Ordinance within four months.
