Coffin of slain CRPF jawan arrives in Guwahati

Guwahati, Feb 16 (IBNS): The mortal remains of CRPF jawan Maneswar Basumatary, who was martyred in the Pulwama terror attack, reached here wrapped in tricolour on Saturday evening.

The tricolour wrapped coffin of the jawan reached at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Borjhar near Guwahati.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, state minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma helped to carry the coffin of the slain CRPF jawan after they laid a wreath on the mortal remains of the troop.

Assam government ministers, Congress leaders, MPs, MLAs, state government and Assam police officials had offered their tributes to the slain jawan with folded and head bowed.

Later, the body was taken to his native village Kalbari near Tamulpur in Assam’s Baksa district.

Maneswar Basumatary is survived by his wife and two children.
