Close fight in Gujarat as Rahul-led Congress gives Modi's BJP initial jitters

Gandhinagar, Dec 18 (IBNS): A rejuvenated Congress led by Rahul Gandhi threw up an unexpected result in Gujarat with the Bharatiya Janata Party facing a tough fight from the former even as the saffron party is ahead as counting progressed in the western state.

The latest trend indicates Congress leading in 81 seats while the BJP is ahead in 100 seats in the 182 member Gujarat Assembly.

Indication are that BJP might win but Congress would put up a big fight.

The BJP, however, is ahead in Himachal Pradesh leading in 36 of the 68 seats.
