Chandrababu Naidu seeks time for face-to-face meeting with Revanth Reddy, stirs political speculations

Vijayawada/IBNS: Stirring speculations, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has sought time for a face-to-face meeting with his Telangana counterpart Revanth Reddy over issues related to the bifurcation of the state, media reports said.

Naidu has sought time for the meeting at Revanth's residence in Hyderabad on July 6.

In a letter to Reddy, Naidu said as quoted by India Today, "It has been 10 years since the bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.

"There have been multiple discussions concerning issues arising from the Reorganisation Act, which hold significant implications for the welfare and advancement of our states."

Telangana was formed in June 2014 after a bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Reddy, a former confidante of Naidu and an ex-Telugu Desam Party leader, became the Chief Minister after Congress came to power in the state in 2023.

Naidu, interestingly, is now a key ally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is short of the majority at the Centre.

TDP's 16 seats make the party the most important ally of the BJP in the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre.

Naidu, who stormed back to power in Andhra Pradesh in 2024, announced his government will make Amaravati as the state capital as opposed to his predecessor Jagan Mohan Reddy's plan for three state capitals.
