New Delhi, Apr 25 (IBNS): In order to stop cow smuggling in India, the central government has decided to tag Adhaar like identity number on all cows, their calves, oxen and bulls, according to media reports.

Reports suggest that the centre has informed the apex court about its latest decision to tackle cow smuggling.

Solicitor general Ranjit Kumar told a bench of the Supreme Court that each animal would get an Unique Identification Number (UIN) along with the their details like age, sex, breed, height and others.

"The ministry of agriculture has devised a method of tamper-proof identification of cattle using polyurethane tags with a UIN sequence. It may be made mandatory for cows and their progeny throughout India" Kumar was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
