CBI arrests Central Council of Homeopathy President on alleged bribe charges

New Delhi, Oct 22 (IBNS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on Saturday, arrested Central Council of Homeopathy President Ramjee SIngh and another person for allegedly accepting bribe of rupees 20 lakh, according to media reports.

The graft charge alleges that the bribe was for the granting of a favourable inspection report for setting up a homeopathy college, media reported.

The case is the similar to the one in which the CBI filed a charge sheet in June 2012 against the then Medical Council of India (MCI) president, a head of the department (Neurology) with an Ahmedabad-based medical college, an MCI additional inspector, chairman of a Bareilly-based private medical institute and its director (administration) and dean, reported The Hindu.

Central Council of Homeopathy is a statutory body under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
