Cannot dream of violating SC order: M Nageswara Rao after contempt notice
New Delhi, Feb 11 (IBNS): CBI additional director M Nageswara Rao on Monday apologised to the Supreme Court for transferring an officer supervising the case of children's sexual abuse at Bihar's government-run shelter homes, reports said.
In an affidavit filed in the apex court a day ahead of his appearing in the contempt case, Rao says: "I sincerely realise my mistake and while tendering my unqualified and unconditional apology, I specially state I have not wilfully violated the order of this court as I cannot even dream of violating or circumventing order of this court."
"I shouldn't have transferred AK Sharma without Supreme Court's nod," it added.
Rao is scheduled to appear in the Supreme Court on Tuesday in this contempt case.
Last Thursday, the country's top court had held Rao held in contempt for transferring Sharma as part of the overnight mass transfer that followed the public feud between the CBI's former chief Alok Verma and his deputy Rakesh Asthana.
"You have played with our orders. God help you," Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi had told Rao at that hearing.
