A jeweller and his son fought two men, one of them wearing burqa, who tried to rob their shop in Hyderabad's  Medchal area, media reports said.

Following a fierce struggle, the two men, who were armed, left the shop empty-handed.

The owner of the shop was reportedly injured.

The burqa-clad man reportedly attacked shop owner  Sesharam by stabbing him on his shoulder.

His accomplice, who was wearing a helmet, started collecting jewellery.

Despite his injuries, Sesharam's quick thinking and the timely intervention of his son, Suresh, prevented the theft, reported NDTV.

The robbers fled the spot on motorcycle before police could reach the spot.

According to senior Hyderabad police officer Narsimha Reddy, specialised teams have been formed to track down the suspects, reported NDTV.
