Malda, Feb 17 (IBNS): A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan allegedly shot dead one of his colleagues and injured five others at a camp in Malda district of West Bengal on Tuesday morning, media reports said.

The incident took place in the wee hours of Tuesday when the jawan, identified as constable Basant Singh, killed a head constable, Moolchand, and injured five other in a shootout. He then left the weapon and ran away.

Sources said Singh had a fight on Monday night with a group of his colleagues. Singh took a weapon from a nearby BSF post on Tuesday morning and shot dead Moolchand while injuring others.

The local police have been informed about the shootout incident as Singh went missing after the firing.
